Affiliate Funding Opportunities |

Affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation fund a variety of community-based breast health education
and breast cancer screening and treatment projects for the medically
underserved.
Up to 75% of an Affiliate’s net income stays in the
community
in which it was raised.
The Shreveport/Bossier Affiliate
works with local medical experts and community leaders to conduct a
comprehensive community needs assessment annually. On the local
level the Shreveport/Bossier Affiliate funds non-duplicative,
community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening,
treatment and support programs for the medically underserved in
northwest Louisiana.
Our grant cycle runs from April 1st through
March 31st of each year.
Applications will become available October
1, 2007 for the 2008 through 2009 funding cycle and will be due no
later than 5:00 pm on November 16, 2007.

“Breast
Health Education & Resource Program”-$55,565
A faith based outreach & education
program focusing on minority women in the northwest
Louisiana area. This program pays for screening services at several
area breast screening facilities and also offers Spanish
interpretation/escort services. |

DeSoto Regional Health System
“Breast Health Outreach
Initiative”- $22,320
A hospital based outreach & education program that also offers
no-cost screening for eligible women in the DeSoto Parish area. |

Feist Weiller Cancer Center
“Partners In Wellness” - $59,900
A
program that offers education and no-cost screening services for
eligible women in the northwest Louisiana area. The program
currently has screening sites in Shreveport and Grambling, and is
looking to expand to other areas in the future. |

4. |
Northwestern State University
“Take Action”- $14,210
A
university based outreach, education and screening program offering
services for eligible women in Natchitoches and Red River Parish. |
|

|

A limited number of small/travel grants may be awarded each year
depending on the availability of funds.
These grants are limited to
$1,000 and are for small projects or to purchase educational
materials.
Travel grants are limited to $1,000 and to
conferences/trainings that focus on breast health issues.
